Volatilitas pasangan ini sedang, dapat bervariasi dalam kisaran 60–110 pip per hari, sementara dolar Australia sendiri adalah instrumen yang lebih volatil. AUD sangat dipengaruhi oleh volume ekspor bahan mentah (industri pertambangan masih memainkan peran besar dalam perekonomian negara), serta kondisi sektor pertanian secara umum.
